said Friday, trying to keep everyone -- including, most notably, the Redskins -- guessing as to whether Griese or Fiedler will start.
Fiedler and Griese already know who will start. And, like Wannstedt, neither is revealing the secret, even though friends, relatives and even strangers have tried to pry it out of them the past few days.
"I dont give answers to too many people," Fiedler said, adding he has been asked about his status "every time I see someone on the street and every time I get a call from a friend."
Fiedler said his mobility is improving, although the pain in his knee hasnt disappeared entirely.
Even if Griese starts, Wannstedt said Fiedler will be the backup after spending the past three weeks as the third quarterback.
"Im feeling a lot better," said Fiedler, who started the first six games as the Dolphins went 4-2. "Im moving around pretty good on [the knee], taking drops at full speed now.
"Theres still a little bit of soreness, but not the type of soreness that stops me in my tracks, which is kind of where it was a week ago."
"Jay looks fine," receiver Chris Chambers said. "They both worked well this week. I thought both looked great and I expect a great game from whoevers in there."
Wannstedt doesnt mind leaving the Redskins guessing.
"They know that both guys are ready to play and they have to take into account what each guy does, the strengths and weaknesses of both," he said. "It does make a difference. It made a difference [against Baltimore] last week when we were preparing for [Anthony] Wright as opposed to [Chris] Redman."
Given Wannstedts strategy, the fact both guys appear to be ready, Spencers reporting and the fact were talking about a Sunday night game, I wouldnt touch either guy with your ten foot pole.','11/22/2003','12:25:00 PM','Saturday',644 6214,17,12,'Bates Ruled Out; Burleson Will Start...','According to St. Paul Pioneer Press beat man Bill Williamson, receiver DWayne Bates
