What is Fantasy Football

In its simplest form, the idea of fantasy sports is no different than any other game or contest that involves testing your knowledge against a group of friends. Fantasy sports was created over 20 years ago when a group of baseball fans took the bragging rights of — "I know more about the game than you do" — to a game level by creating rules and scoring systems to define what "best" was.

Fantasy football has become the most popular of all fantasy sports in recent years, mostly because it is one of the easier fantasy games to play. A group of friends — known as team "owners" — get together at the beginning of the football season and select a roster of NFL players with the idea of putting together the team that puts up the best statistics each week. Fantasy football contests can be found in many places on the web. They range from contests and leagues that are a total waste of time to some of the most challenging you can find.

Orleans. Despite not really having much of an offensive identity or proven system, the Saints have set offensive team records since McCarthy arrived three years ago."','11/21/2003','8:25:00 AM','Friday',619 6189,14,12,'Del Rio Confident Taylor Will Play...','According to Florida Times-Union staffer Vito Stellino, head coach Jack Del Rio remains confident that running back Fred Taylor will play against the Jets, although hes yet to go full-time in practice. Hes still listed as probable for the game.

Taylor said he practiced only in individual drills Thursday, but Del Rio said, "He practiced a little bit. He ran around pretty good. He ran some team drills. He didnt have any full contact work, but were not doing much full contact work on Thursdays at this time of year."

As noted by the Sports XChange, the Jaguars plan to run the ball against the leagues worst ranked rushing defense when they take on the Jets this weekend.

If Taylor has problems, they can spell him with Chris Fuamatu-Maafala and LaBrandon Toefield. If they can run the ball, they put less of a burden on rookie quarterback Byron Leftwich, who has turned the ball over 17 times in seven games. Hes turned it over 16 times in the five losses and just once in the two wins.

Stay tuned. ... Ill have more on Taylors status late tonight or early tomorrow. ...

Veteran quarterback Mark Brunell continues to work with the scout team and will remain the third team emergency quarterback against the Jets because hes still not ready to play in a game.

"Its not whether I can throw a football. Its a matter of taking a hit and landing on it [elbow] again. They want to make sure it heals up as much as it needs to. Im taking it one week at a time. My role is to get the defense ready along with David [Garrard]," he said.

If Leftwich stays healthy, Brunell probably wont take another snap in a Jaguar uniform even if he
