bit."
Earlier in the week, Martz said wide Holt would have limited work this week because of an ankle injury suffered in last Sundays win over the Bears. At the time, Martz noted that Holt and fellow wideout Isaac Bruces practice workload is normally reduced at the end of the season. Martz reiterated that Wednesday.
"We have taken Isaac and Torry on Wednesdays now and backed them off a little bit, Thursday a little bit more, and Friday will be a normal practice day," Martz said. "Those two guys have been running all year and we can do that because we have receivers helping now who can participate and fill in and do those things. They can learn a little bit more as well that way. This is what we will do for the rest of the year."
Because of injuries, Martz said the veterans have gotten plenty of work this year.
"We just have a sense of it," Martz said, when asked how he decides when to change the practice approach. "These guys have really taken more reps than what we will normally do during the season because we have had so many of the young guys injured. They had to take more reps so we have to let them catch up a little."
Specifically, that has been the case with rookie wideouts Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald. Curtis was active, but did not play against the Bears. McDonald has been inactive for the last three games.
Curtis suffered a broken leg on Aug. 23, while McDonald injured his thumb ion the season opener. While those players were mending, wide receivers Dane Looker and Mike Furrey were advancing within the offense. Both also play special teams, which has limited the opportunities for Curtis and McDonald. ...
And finally. ...
Asked to explain Lookers flair for playmaking, Martz told Pro Football Weekly: "Hes a hard guy to explain. I dont know how he does it. He comes up with a couple of plays every week that make the difference in the game. ... He does a terrific job."','11/21/2003','12:05:00 AM','Friday',616 6186,31,12,'Canidate
