Spurrier said Jackson will probably stay on the sideline and offer more direct input on the play-calling, rather than return to the upstairs coaches box.
"Hell still probably call a bunch of them through me," Spurrier said.
Spurrier also said struggling running back Trung Canidate will start Sunday, in part because he is the healthiest alternative. Rock Cartwright and Chad Morton both have severe ankle sprains and are listed as questionable.
However, Redskins.com staffer Gary Fitzgerald reported after Wednesdays practice that Cartwright is optimistic that hell be able to play on Sunday.
"I think Ill be able to play," Cartwright said. "I just have to make sure I get it properly taped. I dont see [the sprained ankle] affecting me at all. Pretty much all of the swelling has gone down."
The status for Ladell Betts is less certain, however. He underwent X-rays of his forearm on Tuesday.
"Ladells arm is not completely healed yet," Spurrier said. "Hes doubtful."
Said Betts: "They told me its still too much of a risk for me to play. Im eager to get back out there. It gets frustrating. Every week, I come in here hoping for some good news. It does feel better, but I know my body and I can kind of feel its not ready yet."
