What is Fantasy Football

In its simplest form, the idea of fantasy sports is no different than any other game or contest that involves testing your knowledge against a group of friends. Fantasy sports was created over 20 years ago when a group of baseball fans took the bragging rights of — "I know more about the game than you do" — to a game level by creating rules and scoring systems to define what "best" was.

Fantasy football has become the most popular of all fantasy sports in recent years, mostly because it is one of the easier fantasy games to play. A group of friends — known as team "owners" — get together at the beginning of the football season and select a roster of NFL players with the idea of putting together the team that puts up the best statistics each week. Fantasy football contests can be found in many places on the web. They range from contests and leagues that are a total waste of time to some of the most challenging you can find.

He then put a protective boot on his right foot and limped through the rest of the day, unsure of his status for Sundays game at Miami.

"This is something you just cant shrug off and go with," Ramsey said. "I plant on the foot; I push off on the foot. Its important for it not to be that bad to play effectively."

Ramsey has an old fracture on the right edge of his foot. X-rays show an extra piece of bone from a break that occurred perhaps many years ago, and it has somehow become aggravated this season, especially during the last two games.

He had a cortisone shot Monday and needs extended rest and possibly offseason surgery, but theres little time to contemplate such matters with the Redskins clinging to faint playoff hopes.

"If Patricks healthy, hes going to play," head coach Steve Spurrier said. "Were still believing that something goods going to happen. Were still believing that we can start winning our close games and play better and coach better. We want to go down there with that attitude. We want to throw everything weve got at the Miami Dolphins."

Ramsey is listed as questionable for Sunday. His backup, Tim Hasselbeck, has never started an NFL game. Ramsey has earned league-wide respect for his ability to take a pounding and keep on playing, but this would be his toughest physical challenge yet.

"It limits me a little bit, but I still think I can perform," Ramsey said. "Until I cant perform, I want to stay out there and play."

Ramsey hasnt missed a start this season, but his production has fallen steadily after a stellar
