Quarterback is far from the only unsettled position in Miamis sputtering offense. The receiving corps has fallen into such disfavor that on Wednesday the Dolphins re-signed Oronde Gadsden, who last played in October 2002.
Receiver Derrius Thompson, who has just 15 receptions and no touchdowns, will keep his starting job for at least another week. But his playing time may decline with the addition of the 32-year-old Gadsden.
In an article published Wednesday, Miami Herald staffer Jason Cole reported that Thompson play prompted at least two offensive teammates to say last week they werent sure why he was still on the game-day roster or even the 53-man roster.
Ouch....
The Dolphins rank 27th among the 32 NFL teams in total offense and passing yardage.
"I dont think by any means that me being here is going to change all of it," Gadsden said. "But if I can help in any way, I want to."
Whether Fiedler can spark the offense is far from certain. He ranks 24th in the NFL in passing efficiency at 71.8, but Griese is even worse at 70.5. Those are career lows for both players.
The biggest difference is Fiedlers superior mobility -- when hes healthy. He has been sacked only eight times in six games, while Griese has been sacked 10 times and lost four fumbles.
