has rushed for 181 yards and one touchdown on 42 carries. White has 23 yards on 13 carries and 23 receptions for 140 yards.
While the perception is that White is getting fewer opportunities, head coach Butch Davis sees it differently.
"Hes had a lot of opportunities," Davis said. "Weve dialed his number up. People are more aware of him. Hes caught some balls and come up short. Weve tried to get him involved. Hopefully, in these next seven games well get him more involved."
But according to Akron Beacon Journal staff writer Patrick McManamon, White doesnt agree with his coach.
Asked White: "When have I had opportunities? I dont know. To hear (Davis) tell it Im getting (opportunities). I dont think about it. I go out there and do what he tells me to do."
Last season White touched the ball 12.1 times per game.
This season hes touching it four times per game, a drop of 67 percent.
It does not appear as if White will get more touches with Green suspended for the next three games. Asked if his role had increased since Green has been out, White said no.
"Its the same thing," he said.
Last season, White was one of the Browns weapons. He finished second on the team with 63 receptions (for 452 yards) and second behind Green with 470 yards rushing.
His 922 combined yards were second on the team to Quincy Morgans 971 yards.
But this season hes been forgotten.
The struggles started during training camp, when a concussion and a slightly torn hamstring slowed White. Jackson jumped into the No. 2 role thanks to the injury and some good running.
White has played mainly on third down, where his receptions have been short and his chances to make big plays limited.
And the bottom line remains unchanged: Jackson will get the bulk of the work until Green returns.
"Its going to be a team thing," Jackson said. "Offensively, its not necessarily me. The offensive coordinator, offensive line and receivers. Its going to take everybody. Im not going to lie. I cant do it on my own."','11/15/2003','10:40:00 PM','Saturday',587
