','11/15/2003','3:30:00 PM','Saturday',582 6152,14,11,'Johnson Still Not Ruled Out...','According to Florida Times-Union beat man Bart Hubbuch, Kevin Johnson practiced with the Jaguars for the first time Friday and described it as the "new beginning" he was looking for after his sudden release by the Cleveland Browns earlier this week.
"I think this is a great situation," said Johnson, who didnt arrive in Jacksonville until early Friday after being awarded off waivers to the Jaguars on Wednesday. "This is a great organization and a great team on the rise."
Johnsons status for tomorrows game at Tennessee remains unclear.
Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said Johnson arrived too late to play against the Titans, but Johnson was in offensive meetings Friday and given a crash course on the playbook by the coaching staff.
Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said he expects Johnson to play, and the Jaguars earlier this season used wide receiver Troy Edwards against Houston just four days after signing him.
Edwards knew just three plays when he suited up against the Texans but caught three passes for 111 yards in the Jaguars Sept. 28 loss, including a franchise-record 84-yard touchdown.
Asked if he would play Sunday, Johnson said: "I dont know whats going to happen."

For what its worth, Musgrave said Johnson compares favorably to former Jaguars wideout Keenan McCardell, who caught 499 passes for 6,393 yards and 30 touchdowns with one Pro Bowl trip before being released in 2002 for salary-cap reasons.
