Adjusted To Reduce Stress On Favres Thumb... ','Following up on a previous Update. ... According to PackersNews.com staff writer Pete Dougherty, after unexpectedly taking full part in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, Brett Favre participated in only about half of the Packers practice Friday to reduce the stress on his broken right thumb.
Favre will make his third straight start since sustaining a hairline fracture under his right thumbnail at St. Louis on Oct. 19. He finished that game with the injury and, after the Packers bye, has started the last two while wearing a splint to protect his thumb.
The last two weeks he sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday and then took all the snaps with the No. 1 offense on Friday, and head coach Mike Sherman planned for a similar schedule this week. But this week, Favre felt good enough to take all the snaps on Wednesday and Thursday, so on Friday, he took part in only the first half of practice and backup Doug Pederson took the rest of the work.
"He threw the heck out of the ball (Thursday), really started torqueing the ball with his hips and his shoulders, had one of his best practices," Sherman said. "Just holding him back a little (Friday), he was a little sore. Just wanted to hold him back, a short week, need him to be ready on Sunday."

According to the Sports XChange, the Packers will no doubt try to run the ball against the Bucs undersized front seven. The Packers are running it as well as any team in the NFL, and they will have taken note of how the 49ers banged away at the Bucs with the run Oct. 19.
Ahman Green is capable of running inside or outside, but when the Packers have hurt the Bucs on the ground in the past its usually been up the middle.
The Packers are one of the NFLs poorest downfield passing teams, so it may be difficult for them to exploit the Bucs injury-damaged secondary.
