The Giants also promoted tight end Darnell Dinkins from the practice squad to their active roster.
Head coach Jim Fassel wanted to keep two kickers active the first week that Bryant returned, but other injuries forced the coach to make a couple of moves.

Dinkins gives New York three healthy tight ends. Jeremy Shockey will miss at least the next three games with a sprained left knee.

Bettis has started the past three games after replacing Amos Zereoue as the starter.
Its worth noting that head coach Bill Cowher expressed about Bettis three lost fumbles in a 43-carry span over three games after he had lost just one fumble in his previous 981 carries.
"Yes. He is the first one to recognize it," Cowher said. "Hopefully he has got them all out of him for the rest of his career. He understands that and he is a Pro Bowler."
Bettis pushed his career rushing yards to 11,818 last Sunday. He needs 257 to move past Thurman Thomas into ninth place all-time and 303 to surpass Steelers Hall of Famer Franco Harris (12,120 yards) into eighth place on the NFLs
