What is Fantasy Football

In its simplest form, the idea of fantasy sports is no different than any other game or contest that involves testing your knowledge against a group of friends. Fantasy sports was created over 20 years ago when a group of baseball fans took the bragging rights of — "I know more about the game than you do" — to a game level by creating rules and scoring systems to define what "best" was.

Fantasy football has become the most popular of all fantasy sports in recent years, mostly because it is one of the easier fantasy games to play. A group of friends — known as team "owners" — get together at the beginning of the football season and select a roster of NFL players with the idea of putting together the team that puts up the best statistics each week. Fantasy football contests can be found in many places on the web. They range from contests and leagues that are a total waste of time to some of the most challenging you can find.

In addition to missing Pollard for Sundays game against the New York Jets, the Colts expect wide receiver Marvin Harrison to sit out with a strained hamstring.

"We havent totally ruled him out, but its going to be difficult for him to play, head coach Tony Dungy said after Thursdays practice. "It might be just a mild strain and he might be able to go this week. That kind of looks doubtful."

Dungy added that since Harrison has never had a muscle pull before, it will be difficult to gauge how much time hell miss. "He might be ready go next week. It might be three or four weeks. We really dont know, and he doesnt have anything to compare it to...."

Pollard could be also be sidelined for Indianapolis game against Buffalo on Nov. 23, Dungy said.

Pollard has 23 receptions for 366 yards and two touchdowns this season.

McCardell, the Buccaneers second-leading receiver with 44 receptions for a team-high 693 yards and six touchdowns, was injured during practice Thursday.

"He feels better," head coach Jon Gruden said. "He participated in the walk through, then we held him out of the practice for precautionary reasons. But were optimistic that hell play. Hes a tough guy."

Fellow wideout Joe Jurevicius, sidelined since the second week of the season with a right knee sprain, is also questionable. He practiced again Friday, but Gruden said it was too soon to say whether he can return against Green Bay.

"If it even looks like it remotely, were going to bring Joe to find out," he said. "I think I speak for the whole organization that were looking forward to getting
