For the seasons first eight games, Dorsey has been relegated to the scout-team offense and even has lined up a few times at wide receiver to mimic opposing teams offenses in practice.
Friday, however, he was taking snaps from center Jeremy Newberry and throwing passes to Owens in preparation for tomorrows game.
Head coach Dennis Erickson said he wanted Dorsey to get used to lining up under Newberry and for the offense to become accustomed to the rookies voice inflection.
"You dont want to go in there and all of sudden its something new and you jump offside in a critical situation," Erickson said. "Thats the main reason to get him some snaps."
Dorsey said he has tried to prepare himself all season as if he would enter a game at any moment.
"Im confident in myself," he said. "I hope my teammates are confident in me."

Also according to Inman, place-kicker Todd Peterson, hired Tuesday by the 49ers, has something his four predecessors lacked upon joining the 49ers.
Peterson arrives with an NFL field goal to his credit. Hes made 182 in 234 attempts for four teams the past nine seasons.
That vast experience dwarfs that of the four kickers the 49ers brought into the league since 1998 -- Wade Richey, Jose Cortez, Jeff Chandler and Owen Pochman, who was waived Tuesday.
"Todd has had very successful years in the NFL," 49ers general manager Terry Donahue said. "Last year was not a good year, but hes had good years. All we want him to do is come in and just perform adequately. He doesnt have to come in and kick in the Pro Bowl. Weve just wanted our kickers to come in and be up to NFL standards."
Unfortunately, Peterson wasnt quite up to those standards last year, making 12 of 21 field goal attempts in his lone season with
