Bulger is 12-3 as the starter over two seasons, tied for second best in NFL history through 15 games. His success has come despite weekly criticism from Martz that he has a tendency to work through his reads too quickly, and also has improper footwork when rushed. Bulger knows theres a lot of room for improvement.
"If I sensed it, I would slow it down," Bulger said. "I think its easier to slow down than speed up, so Im happy with that.
"Coach has talked to me about that before and its something to work on."
Warner, always happy to help out despite his role as the forgotten hero, also has talked to Bulger.
"Kurts obviously been there, hes had every situation Ive had in the NFL times 10," Bulger said. "I always go to him for advice every week. I just know hes there for me."
Martz was determined to allow Bulger to work through his problems, and that gives the young quarterback a measure of confidence heading into Sundays game at Chicago. Hes trying to move on.
"It was pretty bad, but Monday I went in and made the corrections," Bulger said. "On Tuesday, you have to be ready for Chicago and you cant look back.
"Regardless if I played great last week it wouldnt matter, its a new week and a new team to prepare for.
"Im glad he stayed with me, obviously," Bulger added. "Thats the head coachs decision to stay with me and I havent thought about it much."
Martz said Bulger has done a good job of learning from his bad game.
"He had a terrific practice today," Martz said after Wednesdays session. "I think thats all been resolved. I think hes back. ..."
