Weekly -- citing a source close to the team -- reported that Edgerrin James will remain the featured back and get 20-25 carries a game, but Dominic Rhodes will continue to spell him when he gets fatigued.
Because Rhodes still has soreness in his knee, the coaching staff wants to limit his carries to 10 or 12 a game.
The coaches believe that they form a nice duo because of their complementary styles. Less polished, Rhodes is a slasher type who relies on his quickness. The bigger James uses his power and speed to beat defenders to the outside.
Ricky Williams still will have a role, too. The Colts plan to use him as a third-down back and give him a combined six or seven receiving and rushing plays per game....
Mike Vanderjagt is 24-of-24 in field goal attempts this season and has connected on 28 straight over the last two regular seasons, tying the longest such streak of his career and in team history (28, 1999-2000).
Vanderjagt is the NFLs most accurate kicker, having hit 161-of-185 attempts for an .870 percentage during his career. He is two points shy of posting his sixth consecutive 100-plus point season....
