But the end of this weeks passing camp marked the start of new concerns at quarterback.
Wright, who dressed for the passing camp but did not participate in any team drills, seemed stunned yesterday when he learned of his partially torn labrum, the cartilage found in the shoulder joint.
"He will probably miss the start of the season," trainer Bill Tessendorf said.
The Ravens probably will place Wright on the physically-unable-to-perform list before the regular season, which starts Sept. 12. After sitting out the first six weeks, Wright can return to practice for three weeks before the Ravens have to make a decision on his status. At that point, they will either have to activate him, place him on injured reserve or release him.
"We thought that if we would have given my arm some time to rest, I would be fine when I came back now," Wright said. "It didnt work out that way."
For what its worth. ... New York Daily News insider Gary Myers reported this morning that Oakland is still the strong favorite to get Collins, but at the very least, the former Penn State standout has some options.
As outlined by Myers: "Go to Oakland and start, where his signing for modest dollars for a No. 1 QB would push out Rich Gannon after June 1. Gannon, the 2002 MVP, is 38, making $7 million and is coming off shoulder surgery.
"Or, Collins could go to Baltimore as a backup for a year, then be the top free agent quarterback on the market next March with a chance at a lucrative long-term contract. ..."
