How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

Hambrick joins former Pittsburgh running back Amos Zereoue, signed last month, as new backs competing to replace Charlie Garner, who signed with Tampa Bay. Tyrone Wheatley and Justin Fargas also are in the mix.

Hambrick became Dallas starter in place of NFL career rushing leader Emmitt Smith last season, but averaged just 3.5 yards per carry. He gained 972 yards, ranking 19th in the NFL, while starting all 16 games.

The Cowboys cut him last Thursday after drafting Julius Jones in the second round.

Hambrick, an undrafted free agent out of Savannah State, joined the Cowboys in 2000 and has 1,896 yards rushing and 42 receptions. ...

Boller, who was named the Ravens starter before last years regular-season opener, retained the job until a sprained knee sidelined him in November. Even though he finished on the bench with an AFC-worst 62.4 passer rating, the experience
