How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

face -- and with 11-year veteran Dwayne Carswell switching to offensive tackle during the most recent mini-camp, a tight end of Chamberlains experience and familiarity with the Broncos system could be helpful, especially since he blossomed as a pass-catcher in his first two seasons after leaving Denver.

"[Chamberlain] has an outstanding relationship with Shanahan," Sundquist said. "Like [Shanahan] told him [last Thursday], through some great times and through some tough times. They have a very good coach-player bond. He has an excellent understanding of what [Shanahan] expects and requires at the position. He obviously understands the system, and it wont take a lot for him to come in here and re-learn it."

Denver drafted Chamberlain with a seventh-round pick (No. 222 overall) in 1995, placing him on the teams practice squad for the first 11 games of his rookie season. The team promoted him to its active roster after 11 games, and he made his first NFL catch in a season-ending win at Oakland. Chamberlain was drafted as a 225-pound wide receiver, but moved to tight end shortly after joining the club.

The following spring, the Broncos allocated him to the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe, with whom he caught a league-leading 58 passes for 685 yards and eight touchdowns. After returning to Denver, he saw spot duty over the next three NFL seasons, grabbing 17 passes for 182 yards from 1996 to 1998.

But when Sharpes 1999 season ended early with a broken clavicle, Chamberlain filled in nicely, snaring 32 passes for 488 yards and two scores. One of his catches against the Green Bay Packers (pictured) covered 88 yards, representing the longest non-scoring play from scrimmage in Broncos history. A year later, he grabbed 22 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown.

Chamberlain moved on to Minnesota in 2001, posting the best numbers of his pro career -- 57 receptions for 666 yards and three touchdowns. His reception total led all NFC tight ends, and he qualified for the Pro Bowl for the first time.

Chamberlains addition is not an indictment on the performance
