The Broncos have prepared themselves for the loss of Sharpe, adding free agent tight ends Byron Chamberlain (last Friday), Jed Weaver and O.J. Santiago and re-signing Patrick Hape. Also on the roster are Jeb Putzier and Mike Leach.
For what its worth. ... DenverBroncos.com staffer Andrew Mason suggested last Friday that Chamberlains arrival had nothing to do the potential change in Sharpes status.
"As we were looking at the position when we got out of mini-camp, we did some evaluation," general manager Ted Sundquist said. "[All offseason], weve been trying to strengthen the tight end position, not knowing what Shannon was going to do one way or the other, with the additions of O.J. Santiago and Jed Weaver, along with bringing Patrick Hape back. This is just one more step to make sure that we have the best group of tight ends that we can possibly have, especially since tight end means so much to the offense."
