How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

Foerster, who was hired this offseason to coach the teams tight ends, was named offensive coordinator. Joel Collier will return to coaching the running backs, a position that he has held since 1998. Bernie Parmalee, who had been named running backs coach this offseason following two years as an offensive assistant, will tutor the Dolphins tight ends.

These changes were necessitated because of health-related reasons on the part of Collier, who missed three days of mini-camp workouts last week because of illness. Head coach Dave Wannstedt said the situation isnt life-threatening. Collier wouldnt discuss specifics.

"I have a health issue thats kind of equated into a level of exhaustion," Collier said. "Im struggling with that. ... I felt like it was in the best interest for all of us to taper me down."

"I know that I speak for the entire Dolphins organization in expressing my support of Joel," said Wannstedt. "No one is more dedicated to his profession. I know that as one of the best young coaches in the league, he will continue to excel in his current position and with any responsibilities he has in the future.

"I think that in Chris we have one of the rising talents in the leagues coaching ranks. In his 11 years in the NFL, he has gained extensive offensive experience and is well-regarded by the coaches that he has worked with. His time in Minnesota and Tampa gave him an extensive background in the running game, and during his tenure in Indianapolis he played an integral part in one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL.
