"Thats the best way I thought I could (heal it)," said Moss, adding that he focused on weight lifting and gained 15 pounds. "I didnt stretch it. I didnt ice it. I didnt run it. Three months of resting, and the [expletive deleted] still hasnt healed up. How much resting do I need? So Im not going to let that bother me if it doesnt heal. ... Ive played through worse pain than this.
"Whatever percentage I am, Im still going to play. Its not a question mark."
Better yet, Moss insists hell play at a high level.
According to Williams, the mercurial receiver requested that his statistics be checked for the final four games of last season -- games played while enduring the effects of the injury -- for proof that he can not only play through pain but play well.
In the three games leading up to the season finale at Arizona, he averaged 112.3 yards receiving. He scored six of his 17 touchdowns last season in those last four games.
Moss showed no signs of being hampered by the injury Friday, running some crisp routes and making some sharp cuts. After making a sharp cut on one route, Moss drew Tices praise: "Thats a nice route over there!"
Moss recently had orthopedic insoles inserted into his playing shoes, and he said those are helping. Specially made insoles also helped tight end Jim Kleinsasser endure plantar fasciitis in his right foot all last season. He started all 16 games.
"Rest is the only real cure," said Kleinsasser, adding that he also routinely received ice treatments and "painful" massages, and did stretches. "Its something youve got to treat like a newborn child. ..."
In a semi-related note. ... Given Moss situation, Michael Bennett heads into the season without the most talked-about foot in Minnesota.
"My injury," Bennett said, "is officially a thing of the past."
