How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

Boston caught 70 passes for 880 yards and seven scores in his only season with the Chargers. Teammates criticized his work ethic, and he was suspended for one game following an argument with a coach.

"It just wasnt a fit," Smith said. "It happens in our league, and you just move on."

In Miami, Boston will be reunited with receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who helped him reach the Pro Bowl in 2001 when both were with Arizona.

Boston caught 98 passes for 1,598 yards that year. The former Ohio State star was the eighth player taken in the 1999 draft.

Boston could also provide an appealing target for A.J. Feeley, acquired two weeks ago from Philadelphia to compete with Jay Fiedler for the quarterback job.

One scenario could include the 49ers returning the Ravens second-round pick while receiving another pick -- likely a third-rounder from whichever team signs the Pro Bowl wideout.

In addition, the Ravens would receive another compensatory pick for their trouble in this escapade.

"Id say theres a 50-50 chance of something like this getting agreed upon to present to the player," one source told Glazer. "Theres nothing concrete yet but thats one scenario, along those lines."

As for why the Niners might agree to such a settlement, Glazer contends thats because such
