How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

the deferred payment on Bostons original $4.55 million signing bonus. But last week sources on both sides said the club was considering such an action.

The primary reason could be that the Chargers dont want to spend another dollar on a player they dont intend to keep. Currently, they owe Boston $8.75 million in guarantees -- $1.85 million in deferred signing bonus, and $6.9 million in salary over the next two seasons.

The Chargers are hoping Miami or another team will assume most or all of that debt as part of a trade agreement, which seems possible. But if the Chargers seek $3 million in liquidated damages, Boston in all likelihood would file a grievance that could delay a trade.

Boston, 25, wants to play for the Dolphins because of his close relationship with wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, Bostons position coach for two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

For the record, a source close to the situation said the Dolphins yesterday faxed a contract proposal to Bostons agent, Mitch Frankel, and that Frankel was preparing a counterproposal because the offer was loaded with incentives.

Last year, the Dolphins ranked 26th in the NFL in passing and threw only 17 touchdown passes, fewer than all but seven teams. ...

In Tampa Bay. ... According to Tampa Tribune staffer Katherine Smith, the Keyshawn Johnson-for-Joey Galloway trade talks have rekindled.

Dallas already has worked out its side by agreeing to a contract with Johnson, but the Bucs have been unable to come to terms with Galloway. Negotiations ceased for a while, but now Tampa Bay is giving it another try.

"We have been talking to Tampa Bay," Galloway said Sunday on NBC, where he spent the day as a guest analyst at the networks New York studios. "I am not sure if anything is going to be done. Its not done now, but the way the NFL works, you never know."

The Cowboys wide receiver, a part owner of the Arena Football Leagues Columbus Destroyers, addressed his situation
