by New Orleans last November 26, Smith rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries in four games with the Saints.
"Lamar provides a quality, proven player behind Deuce McAllister," said Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. "Weve worked hard to upgrade the depth at that spot, including signing Aaron Stecker. It should be a competitive situation during training camp, which is what we are looking for."
A 10-year veteran, Smith rushed for a career-high 1,139 yards for the Miami Dolphins in 2000. He played for New Orleans in 1998 and 1999. ...

Manumaleuna, drafted in the fourth-round in 2001, had 29 receptions for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He gained 15 rushing yards on four carries lining up in the backfield. ...
In Atlanta. ... Hoping to sell free-agent quarterback Billy Volek on the quality of life in the Atlanta area, some Falcons officials gave Volek and his wife a tour of some of the citys upscale neighborhoods yesterday.
