How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

And in todays installment of the Terrell Owens Saga. ...

The hearing to determine whether he can become a free agent has been rescheduled for Monday in Philadelphia. A decision is expected as early as Tuesday.

The case, filed on Owens behalf by the NFL Players Association, will be heard by Stephen Burbank of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, with the lawyers appearing in person. The hearing was originally scheduled for Sunday as a conference call.

The standout receiver was prevented from becoming a free agent when the NFL Management Council ruled last week that his agent, David Joseph, failed to void the last two years of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers by a Feb. 21 deadline.

The 49ers then traded Owens to Baltimore for a second-round pick.

As for his chances of winning. ...

As Pasquarelli explained it this afternoon: "The hearing figures to be a tough session for the NFL Players Association, which finds itself in the middle of defending the actions of a player who isnt exactly the poster boy they would choose to promote, and an agent who apparently couldnt handle affairs for essentially the only NFL client he represents."

The problem here lies in the fact that NFLPA executive director Gene Upshaw said in an interview this week that, not only was Joseph notified, but that the union possesses a receipt for the fax sent to him as notification.

That statement makes it all but impossible for NFLPA attorneys Richard Berthelsen and Jeffrey Kessler to use failure of notification while making Owens case.

So, the NFLPA will concede that Joseph missed the deadline and instead
