How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

writer Len Pasquarelli agreed with that assessment, writing: "Make no mistake about it, though -- the Steelers recruited Staley to be the starter. Not in three decades has the Pittsburgh ground attack been as pitiful as in 2003 and Staley will be counted upon to provide instant improvement.

"The Steelers traditionally have been a power running team and Staleys slashing style should make for a good fit."

And for what its worth. ... Staley is eager to work with "The Bus."

"It was obvious the Steelers really wanted Duce," Harrison explained. "And it was pretty obvious, too, that Duce admires Jerome and wants to play with him. He thinks theyll make for a great twosome."

The Steelers are expected to release running back Amos Zereoue in the near future.

And dont forget, Staley is also a potent receiving threat who finished the 2003 season tied for third among Eagles receivers with 36 receptions for 382 yards and two touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Staley, a 1997 third-round draft pick out of South Carolina, has rushed for 4,807 yards on 1,200 carries. The Raiders have emerged as the team most interested in trading for Dillon, and a source close to the situation said the teams have had conversations about the seven-year veteran tailback.

Oakland lost its top running back Tuesday, when free agent Charlie Garner signed a multi-year contract with Tampa Bay, where he will be reunited with his former Raiders coach, Jon Gruden.

Curnutte noted that Tampa Bay had been a possible Dillon destination until Garner signed there.
