Manning, the NFLs co-Most Valuable Player this past season, reached the end of his previous contract after this past season. The Colts last week had designated him their exclusive franchise player, thereby ensuring he would be with the team no matter the outcome of negotiations.

The signing bonus is $14 million more than the previous high, paid a year-and-a-half ago to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.
