How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

hour on Wednesday. The former Michigan signal caller, who hasnt played football in three years while pursuing a baseball career, is currently the property of Houston.

Henson has already worked out for the Dallas Cowboys and met with the St. Louis Rams.

The Browns are also working on at least one other possibility.

According to Booth Newspapers beat man Tom Kowalski, the Browns have been engaged in trade talks concerning Mike McMahon with the Detroit Lions, but up to this point, are reluctant to ante up Detroits asking price of a third-round draft pick.

McMahon is a restricted free agent, which means if the Lions cant sign him to a long-term contract, hell become an unrestricted free agent after next season and will be free to leave the team.

Kowalski went on to suggest that if the Lions are successful in acquiring a draft pick for McMahon, it might open the door for Garcia, who played under Lions head coach Steve Mariucci with the San Francisco 49ers.

In an article published Wednesday, SI.com insider Don Banks suggested the acquisition of either Garcia or McMahon would likely spell the end of Couchs often rocky tenure in Cleveland.

Garcia would arrive as the teams starter; McMahon would allow the team to release Couch and give the No. 1 job back to Holcomb on a short-term basis, until McMahon was ready to be elevated.

Also of interest in Cleveland. ...

According to the Sports XChange, the Browns know that Dennis Northcutt and his agent will contest the teams claim -- and the Management Councils claim -- that Northcutt is tied to the team through 2006 because he did not void the final three years of his deal in time. But they feel they are on solid ground and compare it to a restricted free agents situation -- if a tender
