But as Hensley noted, trading for Owens probably would be less costly than signing Jackson because Owens isnt a free agent and cant command a signing bonus. In fact, the Ravens probably wouldnt have gone after Owens if he successfully reached the free-agent market because of his asking price.
However, the trade remains a gamble since Owens could fail to live up to his Pro Bowl numbers and become a disruption, forcing the Ravens to cut ties after one season.
When asked about the risk of adding players with conduct issues, Ravens head coach Brian Billick said, "Any player you bring in, you have to be concerned about team chemistry. Its not necessarily the guy may or may not be a bad apple. Its just in terms of demeanor and work ethic. We have very good team chemistry. This team has been together for a while and has developed a certain camaraderie. You dont want to disrupt that. ..."

In Denver. ... Charlie Garner is a potential candidate to fill the opening left at tailback when the Broncos traded Clinton Portis away to Washington for Champ Bailey.
According to Denver Post sports writer Adam Schefter, Garner, a former Oakland Raiders running back who is a threat as a receiver and a runner, plans to visit Denver next week and is welcoming the opportunity to play for his primary rival the past three seasons.
"Charlie is so pumped," Garners agent, Brian Levy, said Wednesday after the Broncos contacted him on the first day NFL teams were allowed to contact and sign free agents.
