How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

time to defense me as I put in to break them down. Im always going to have that advantage.

"But at some point, getting open, scoring touchdowns, cracking jokes in the locker room is not going to mean the same thing to me."

Sharpe wouldnt say which way he is leaning. But he admitted that whereas he once was 100 percent certain of what he would do, now its only 90-10.

DeBruin went on to note that if he does decide to return, Sharpe predicted he would be in great shape, noting that he is down to 238 pounds -- his lowest weight in 13 years.

"I would be ready to go come July," he said of training camp. "You notice I excluded May and June (mini-camps). ..."

In Arizona. ...Head coach Dennis Green made it official last Friday: Marcel Shipp was his starting running back, a move that surprised no one.

But Emmitt Smith will have a place in his offense.

"We know that Marcel Shipp is going to be our starter, at least for now," Green said. "As you know, you cannot play in the National Football League with one running back. You need two guys. I think that will be a good role for him."

"Emmitt has enthusiasm and I think hell have a big year," Green added.

According to East Valley Tribune beat writer Darren Urban, Smith downplayed the depth chart for now.

"There has been some discussion (about his role), but it is early," the veteran superstar suggested. "Theres a lot that has to happen. ..."

Smith added that he had no problem coming into practices as a backup for the first time since his rookie season. Smith, who has been a regular at offseason workouts, turns 35 in May. ...

Also in Arizona. ... The Cardinals scored fewer points last season than any other NFL team, but Green told Arizona Republic staffer Kent Somers the teams offensive potential was a major reason he took the job.

"I think the offensive personnel we have is ideally suited," he said.
