How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

Lions.

McMahon hasnt been thrilled with his situation in Detroit, but its better than it was last season when the third-year quarterback refused to attend any voluntary workouts.

McMahon, who made $389,000 in salary last season, worked out on his own in the off-season and didnt take part in voluntary team activities.

With Joey Harrington starting every game last season, McMahon saw playing time in only three games, completing 9 of 31 passes for 87 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.

In his first two seasons, McMahon threw 10 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions and had four rushing touchdowns. ...

In Buffalo. ... Kordell Stewart was cautious in discussing his interest in joining the Buffalo Bills. The free-agent quarterbacks actions were far more obvious.

According to Buffalo News staff writer Allen Wilson, Stewart met Wednesday with the Bills, in a visit that began with him standing on the sideline watching the teams first day of a three-day mini-camp.

Before the session was over, Stewart, dressed in street clothes, was on the field joking with Buffalos players.

Afterward, the nine-year veteran said hes taking his time before deciding what to do now that hes been released from Chicago following one disappointing season.

"Im a patient guy, I like to let everything kind of fall into place," said Stewart, who also visited Denver earlier this month. "As excited as I am, I have to kind of step back, maybe two steps, to get a full glimpse of whats taking place."

Stewart, however, smiled when saying the Bills would be "a no-brainer" choice for him, considering the teams new head coach, Mike Mularkey, and new offensive coordinator, Tom Clements. Both coached Stewart during his eight-year stint in Pittsburgh.

"It helps a lot," Stewart told Wilson. "You want to be in
