In Tennessee. ... After weeks of negotiating with the Titans and other teams, Billy Volek Monday night agreed to terms with the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2000.
According to Nashville Tennessean staff writer Jim Wyatt, Voleks deal with the Titans is for four years with an option for a fifth season. His agent, Ken Staninger, had also been negotiating with the Bills yesterday before reaching an agreement with Titans general manager Floyd Reese last night.
Volek also made free agency visits to Atlanta, Green Bay and Denver.
"I wanted to come back here, but on the other hand, I also had to explore my options and do what was best for my family and best for my career down the road," Volek said last night. "But I guess Im a Titan. I love the team and the community."
Volek, who backed up starter Steve McNair in 2003 and guided the Titans to a win in his first career NFL start, will sign the deal in the coming days. A press conference could take place later in the week when Staninger is scheduled to arrive in town. Volek said hed like to take part in the teams organized workouts Thursday and Friday.
Volek becomes the second unrestricted free agent to return to the Titans, joining tight end Erron Kinney.
