How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

agreed to be dealt to Tampa Bay in a swap of receivers.

The Galloway-for-Johnson deal was in the works since late February. It was delayed because Galloway and the Buccaneers couldnt agree on a contract.

According to Associated Press sports writer Jaime Aron, the Bucs offered Thursday a one-year deal for $2 million with another $600,000 in reachable incentives, according to a source close to negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity. Galloway wanted to sleep on it before making a final decision.

His Dallas deal wouldve paid $6.31 million this season, but the Cowboys likely wouldve cut him once they got Johnson. Galloway said he knew when he signed his seven-year, $42 million contract with Dallas in 2000 that it was going to change.

"There was no doubt in my mind Id have to take a pay cut," Galloway said. "We just had to come to an agreement on what the contract would be. I think both sides had confidence it would get done. There was no point in time did I want to play with anyone but Tampa Bay."

"This is an exciting day for us," said Buccaneers general manager Bruce Allen. "We believe weve obtained one of the rare talents in the NFL, a person who demonstrated a scoring ability, a play-making ability with two different teams. We think hes going to be a great complement to our offense as well as the other ways we devise to utilize his talents during this season."

Galloway instantly becomes the Bucs fastest player, and he would be in the running for that distinction league-wide. Last year, he led the NFL in yards per catch, turning his 34 catches into 672 yards, an average of 19.8 yards per catch. No other qualifying receiver came within two yards of Galloways average; Johnson, the man Galloway ostensibly replaces, had 11 more catches but 72 fewer yards.

While the Bucs admit Johnson is an undeniable NFL talent, considered particularly strong at using his big frame to make tough catches over the middle, the team is much deeper in that prototype than in the speed receiver.

After the 6-4, 212-pound
