How Do I Score Points

Points are scored in fantasy football in a variety of ways. Scoring categories may vary from league to league but in the majority of leagues players are rewarded for both the points they score on the field as well as the yards they gain for their team during the course of a game.

For example, your league may reward running backs six points for each touchdown they score to mimic the real game of football -- as well as one point for each fifteen rushing yards they produce during a game.

Depending upon how your league is set up, you'll likely be asked to select a group of "starters" each week from your active roster. And just like an NFL team, you'll likely have to select a quarterback, 1-2 running backs, 2-3 receivers, a specialty team, a defense a kicker and other positions

critical of Garcia. When Owens said recently that he was upset that the 49ers made no attempt to keep him, Donahue sarcastically replied, "Thats so upsetting that hes so upset."

Owens, too, is surely unhappy at the thought of returning to the 49ers. It could make for a combustible locker room.

A trade "seems to be the most enticing," one 49ers official told Georgatos, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

How badly Owens wants to leave the 49ers ultimately could decide his fate. Would he demand that his contract be reworked before he moves to another team? If so, that would make him a tough sell.

Owens, 30, is scheduled to make $5.3 million next season, $5.9 million in 2005 and $6.5 million in 2006. Though $17.7 million is a lot of money, its a lot less than the $20 million signing bonus plus salary that Owens reportedly was going to seek in free agency.

Other questions also would have to be answered before Owens moves to another team.

What could the 49ers realistically expect for Owens? And what other teams be willing to offer?

And who might really be interested? Atlanta? Baltimore? Philadelphia?

According to Philadelphia Inquirer staff writer Bob Brookover, Eagles officials had already ruled out pursuing Owens as a free agent and its not clear how this development might change their thinking. Brookover went on to suggest its believed they were more inclined to go after a lesser-known free agent such as Justin McCareins from Tennessee or Darnerien McCants from Washington.

In an article published just before news of the contract screw-up broke on Thursday, Pro Football Weekly cited an unnamed NFL personnel director as saying he expected the Broncos to make a strong push for Owens on the open market.

It remains to be seen how yesterdays developments might impact Denvers interest. ...

Stay tuned. Ill obviously have more on this one in coming days. ...
