"I think hes a good player," New York Jets coach Herman Edwards said. "When Chad [Pennington] got hurt last year, he was a guy we considered. [The Eagles] wanted a little too much for him."
Said Minnesota defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell, who faced Feeley twice in exhibition games: "I thought he was a pretty accurate passer. He moved around in the pocket pretty well. He was very confident back there, so I was very impressed with him."
St. Louis coach Mike Martz and Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy, whose teams have each faced Feeley, said Feeley "managed" games very well.
Still, one NFL executive was dumbfounded by the move.
"They both got themselves fired," the executive said, referring to Spielman and Wannstedt. "Feeley is nothing special. The games he played in and won two years ago were because of [the Eagles] defense.
"I think [Fiedler] is better, no question. ..."
