How Do I Score Points

Points are scored in fantasy football in a variety of ways. Scoring categories may vary from league to league but in the majority of leagues players are rewarded for both the points they score on the field as well as the yards they gain for their team during the course of a game.

For example, your league may reward running backs six points for each touchdown they score to mimic the real game of football -- as well as one point for each fifteen rushing yards they produce during a game.

Depending upon how your league is set up, you'll likely be asked to select a group of "starters" each week from your active roster. And just like an NFL team, you'll likely have to select a quarterback, 1-2 running backs, 2-3 receivers, a specialty team, a defense a kicker and other positions

has a chance to be the third receiver in his second season.

According to Saunders, Madise is "fast and strong and gets good separation. His route running, however, is undisciplined, and he hasnt gained the confidence of Jake Plummer."

The final assessment?

"Madise needs a solid offseason to prove he knows the offense and can make catches going across the middle."','2/23/2004 11:30:38 AM','11:30:38 AM','Monday'14020,2004,1000 6562,13,75,'Roundup: Manning Tagged; Galloway, Fiedler Moving On?','As reported by Associated Press sports writer Michael Marot, the Colts designated Pro Bowl quarterback Peyton Manning their franchise player Monday, a move that will pay him $18.4 million this year unless he agrees to a long-term deal.

Team president Bill Polian said the team had filed the paperwork with the league office, thereby preventing the NFLs co-MVP from the hitting the free-agent market March 3. The date is also the deadline for teams to be under the leagues $80.5 million salary cap.

Polian said he will continue to talk with Mannings agent, Tom Condon, this week and that he hopes to work out a deal before March 1. Today is the deadline for designating franchise players.

If the Colts reach an agreement with Manning before March 17, they can remove the tag and likely lower Mannings salary cap number for the 2004 season.

NFL rules require teams to pay a "franchise" player the average of the top five players at the position or 120 percent of the players salary cap number from the previous year, whichever is higher. Manning counted more than $15 million against the teams salary cap last year.

Teams could still sign Manning to an offer sheet but the Colts would have an opportunity to match it. If Indianapolis chose not to, it would receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.
