How Do I Score Points

Points are scored in fantasy football in a variety of ways. Scoring categories may vary from league to league but in the majority of leagues players are rewarded for both the points they score on the field as well as the yards they gain for their team during the course of a game.

For example, your league may reward running backs six points for each touchdown they score to mimic the real game of football -- as well as one point for each fifteen rushing yards they produce during a game.

Depending upon how your league is set up, you'll likely be asked to select a group of "starters" each week from your active roster. And just like an NFL team, you'll likely have to select a quarterback, 1-2 running backs, 2-3 receivers, a specialty team, a defense a kicker and other positions

Denver does not want to negotiate a new deal with Portis, who still has two years remaining on his contract.

A Denver deal with Bailey might not be as difficult. Baileys agent, Jack Reale, has worked with the Broncos on numerous contracts in the past, including kicker Jason Elams in February 2003.

The NFL trading period opens March 3, but the Broncos and Redskins could agree to a deal before then -- if as Schefter wrote, "they havent already." The Redskins appear to be soliciting offers from, among others, the Detroit Lions, New York Jets and Houston Texans.

"As to who wed be interested in, right now thats something we want to keep to ourselves," Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs said over the weekend.

Adding to intrigue here is the fact two player agents who represent NFL running backs eligible to become unrestricted free agents next month told Pasquarelli that they approached the Redskins to make a pitch for their clients. Both agents assumed that, with the Redskins in need of a back to bolster the power running game Gibbs prefers, they might be able to fuel some interest in their clients.

Both were apprised by Redskins officials that the franchise was on the verge of a blockbuster deal for a premier running back. "One of their top officials basically told me that, while my guy is a good player, they had something else going at tailback and that it was huge," one of the agents claimed.

Contacted by Schefter, Broncos officials declined to comment on the possible deal.

For what its worth, there are questions within the Broncos organization about whether Quentin Griffin, Ahmaad Galloway and Mike Anderson would be good enough to carry the team through the playoffs.

And Schefter went on to suggest that if Denver lands the extra pick from Washington, the team would be positioned to draft one of this years higher-rated running backs, perhaps even former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett, with whom Broncos officials met last Thursday.
