Meanwhile, Kordell Stewarts short and disappointing one-year run with the Chicago Bears could soon be over.
General manager Jerry Angelo told reporters Tuesday that the team could release Stewart with another year left on his contract in attempt to clear cap space before the free agency period begins next month.
Stewart signed a two-year deal as a free agent nearly a year ago. He began the season as the Bears starter, struggled and then lost the job to Chris Chandler before getting it back.
The Bears then turned to rookie Rex Grossman as their starter for the final three games and he is Chicagos quarterback of the future with a new coaching staff headed by Lovie Smith.Stewart, 31, still wants to be a starter. And its obvious he wont be one in Chicago.
"My contributions to the team wont be worth much, not being the guy," Stewart said. "Youve got to move forward. It wasnt the easiest situation to be in, it wasnt the fairest, but it was what it was.
"The reality of it is, if Im not in the plans, with one year left on my deal, the only fair thing to do is give me the opportunity to back out and shop at the mall."
The Bears have a veteran backup in Chandler but could shop for another on the free agent market or through the draft.

Veteran place-kicker John Kasay signed a new five-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, retaining his status as the teams only original member.
Kasay, a 13-year pro who represents himself, has been with the Panthers since the team began in 1995. He was due to become an unrestricted free agent March 3.
