How Do I Score Points

Points are scored in fantasy football in a variety of ways. Scoring categories may vary from league to league but in the majority of leagues players are rewarded for both the points they score on the field as well as the yards they gain for their team during the course of a game.

For example, your league may reward running backs six points for each touchdown they score to mimic the real game of football -- as well as one point for each fifteen rushing yards they produce during a game.

Depending upon how your league is set up, you'll likely be asked to select a group of "starters" each week from your active roster. And just like an NFL team, you'll likely have to select a quarterback, 1-2 running backs, 2-3 receivers, a specialty team, a defense a kicker and other positions

at the University of Houston.

Last season, Smith rushed for 642 yards, leading the team in rushing for his third consecutive season. He has rushed for a career total of 5,713 yards and 47 touchdowns on 1,481 carries.

Smiths departure leaves Kevin Faulk as the only other regular back on the roster, but his days could be numbered as well. His contract with the Patriots expires at the end of the month, and while he has been productive as a backup, hes not going to get starting running back money from the Pats.

Faulk shared the running responsibilities with Smith for most of the regular season, finishing with 638 yards to Smiths 642. But in the final three games of the regular season and in the three playoff games, Smith was the featured back.

And as Mannix pointed out, during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, Carolina All-Pro defensive tackle Kris Jenkins said that the biggest difference in the play of the Patriots offense came when they started emphasizing the power running game with Smith late in the year.

Ill also remind you the Patriots ran for 100 yards in a game just five times during their 9-7 non-playoff season in 2002, but did so 10 times in 2003, including in two of the three playoff wins.

But with Smiths age and his salary cap nearing the $4 million mark this year, and with the team having two first-round picks and seven in the first four rounds, the Pats figure to be looking to use one of those high picks on a rookie running back. ...

As for Faulks future, the consensus among those who follow the team closely has Faulk, an excellent receiver out of the backfield, returning in a situational role. The former LSU star has been given ample opportunity to prove himself worthy of a featured role, but hasnt proven capable of handling full-time duty.

Other notes of interest. ...

According to Herald beat man Michael Felger, tight end Daniel Graham has become a devastating blocker. In the Super Bowl, he dominated his man as a run blocker and pass blocker.

But Felger
