The offense sputtered against the Jaguars with Ragone seeing his first NFL action under center. Ragone threw for just 71 yards and scrambled for 51 more as Jacksonville teed off on the rookie. Houstons lack of a ground game (18 carries for 19 yards minus Ragones five carries) didnt help Ragones cause either.
Fortunately, Domanick Davis, who missed last weeks game with a thigh injury, has been upgraded to probable for Tampa Bay and participated at full speed Wednesday.
"It was encouraging to see him in there," Capers said.
At this point, it looks very much like Davis, who leads all rookies with 825 rushing yards, will be ready to start and play as usual this weekend.','12/11/2003','3:30:00 AM','Thursday',803 6371,20,15,'Shockey Practices, But Still Listed As Doubtful...','According to New York Newsday staff writer Neil Best, Jeremy Shockey practiced Wednesday for the first time since aggravating his left knee injury Nov. 24, but the Giants tight end still is listed as doubtful for Sundays game against the Saints.
Best went on to note that Shockey, who declined to comment, moved well at times despite wearing a large brace but appeared to be operating at far less than 100 percent.
"I talked to him and he felt all right," head coach Jim Fassel said. "He didnt feel real good, he felt all right. Well have to see there."
Getting Shockey back would be a huge boost to a beleaguered offense. The Giants are 0-4 this season and 0-5 overall without Shockey, who worsened his partially torn left posterior cruciate ligament during a pregame workout before the Bucs game.
"Jeremy Shockey is a great player and a great athlete and everything else," Fassel said, "but if hes only 60 percent or 70 percent, obviously hes not everything you need."
Shockey was the only skill player listed as doubtful who practiced. The others are receiver Tim Carter (concussion), quarterback Kerry Collins (ankle), receiver Ike Hilliard
