"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

"David came out and did the allotted number of throws we had scheduled for him," head coach Dom Capers said after the workout was over. "He threw in the vicinity of 50 passes or so and our plan is for him to ice his arm down after that."

Dave Ragone, who made his NFL debut last week at Jacksonville, and Mike Quinn took the rest of the snaps. Carr indicated before practice that his sprained right shoulder was improving.

"The shoulder is getting better," Carr said. "Its just a day-to-day thing. We threw a lot of balls yesterday just to see what I could do. Im a little sore right now but thats expected with the amount of balls that I threw yesterday.

"Itll be nice to get out there and throw the ball around and see how it feels."

Carrs injury, suffered three weeks ago at Buffalo, hasnt affected his distance as much as his velocity. And he knows that an NFL quarterback without the necessary zip on his fastball can be a detriment in the pocket.

"Im just trying to put velocity on the ball every time I go out," Carr said. "Im not really concerned right now about where its going. I just want to see how much juice I can put on it.

"Its hard enough to complete passes in this league and win football games let alone going out there with the one thing that can win a football game is the right arm. If Im banged up there then we dont have that great of a shot to do
