But will it stay that way beyond this season?

Henrys big last two months have solidified his worth to the Bills as a player they either could continue to count on or could consider trading. His value goes up with every 100-yard game.

The 25-year-old Henry, already the Bills fifth all-time rusher (3,137 yards), has said he cant envision a situation in which he and McGahee share the football in harmony. Like all elite runners, Henry thrives on work and has assumed that either he or McGahee will be traded eventually.

With things clicking for his client and the Bills still clinging to slim playoff hopes, Henrys agent, Greg Johnson, is reluctant to make this an issue at the moment. He is hopeful, however, that because Henry has laid it on the line for the Bills this season, playing with his broken leg against the wishes of loved ones, he will be rewarded with loyalty from the coaching staff in 2004. But things are far from that simple.

For one, nobody knows if this coaching staff will be back. Secondly, McGahee is bigger and faster and as Roth put it, he "has the potential -- thats potential -- to be better than Henry." And as a first-round pick, McGahee has already been paid twice as much as Henry in signing bonus alone.

Donahoe said he would never trade Henry without knowing what McGahee can do, which may or may not happen this season, that wont be possible heading into next year. But what if his phone starts ringing when this season is finished?

"Well always listen, but were not going to be actively pursuing something like that (with Henry)," Donahoe said. "Whos to say whats going to happen in the future, but we didnt take Willis with the intention of doing something with Travis."

Donahoe said having two top ball carriers isnt a luxury, given the physical demands of the position. He does believe its possible to keep two top backs happy.

"A lot of teams in this league have two outstanding running backs playing at the same time," he said. "One year in Pittsburgh,
