How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

his talking, even if the right one currently has a cracked bone.

Despite the specter of first-round draft pick Willis McGahee taking his starting job next season -- and perhaps cutting into his workload this season, despite a laundry list of injuries, despite getting more than 25 carries on only four occasions, Henry needs just 30 yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for a second consecutive NFL season.

"It feels really good," Henry said. "Ive been going up the ranks slowly. These last few weeks weve really run the ball effectively. Its always good to reach the 1,000 mark in this league, so it feels really good to be close to it."

According to Roth, thats a remarkable feat, given the many hurdles placed before the well-respected and liked third-year pro.

After missing one and a half games with a painful rib injury following a preseason foot ailment, Henry had just 122 yards on 53 carries through the seasons first month. But over the past eight games, he has gained 848 yards on 188 carries, nearly doubling his per-carry average (2.3 to 4.5), while averaging 106 yards per game. Over the past six games, he has topped 100 yards four times and has 21 carries of 10 yards or more.

Making Henrys season the stuff of folklore is that since cracking his fibula just above his right ankle Nov. 16 in the first half against Houston, he hasnt missed a start, gaining 190 yards on 48 carries in the past two games and adding 27 more on five pass receptions.

In a game where everybody plays with pain, Henrys teammates are in awe of his effort, one of the Bills few bright spots this season.

"Hes amazing," said 12-year veteran fullback Sam Gash. "Hes truly a warrior. It really speaks for his heart and professionalism but also his talent. All guys play hurt, but Travis is producing, as well."

"He has got great physical and mental toughness," said general manager Tom Donahoe. "He brings a dimension to your team thats pretty special. Guys see what hes doing, and it inspires and motivates them."

Said head coach Gregg Williams:
