Hines Ward (glut) and Jerome Bettis (shoulder), both listed as probable, made it through a second-straight workout Friday and theyre also on track to start and play as usual this weekend.

In an article published Monday, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette staffer Gerry Dulac suggested the offense lacks identity, reminding readers the Steelers opened the season thinking it was a passing team after starting Amos Zereoue and Riemersma ahead of Bettis and Mark Bruener at halfback and tight end, respectively.
But the running game fell too far -- to 31st in the league. When Maddox threw too many interceptions, the run couldnt save the Steelers.
As Dulac summed up: "The team must decide whether to revive the run or live and die with the pass. ..."
According to the Sports XChange, Maddox cannot explain why his record is 0-5-1 with the Steelers when hes thrown for more than 300 yards in a regular-season game.
"I dont know, some of those games probably could have gone the other way." Maddox did win when he threw for 367 yards when the Steelers beat Cleveland 36-33 in a playoff game Jan. 5. ...
Also according to Dulac, the team wont give backup Charlie Batch more playing time unless head coach Bill Cowher thinks Maddox isnt doing the job. Maddox has been inconsistent, but Cowher wont switch for the sake of making a change. ...

Ward and Plaxico Burress each started out the season with two straight 100-yard receiving games. Neither had another one until both topped 100 last week against Cincinnati.
