How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. According to the Sports XChange, the Colts made some roster changes this week when they placed James Mungro and Detron Smith on the injured reserve list, signed fullback Tom Lopienski off the practice squad and added quarterback Cory Sauter to the active roster.

Mungro suffered a turf toe injury in the loss to New England last week and was expected to miss the next five to six weeks. Smith, meanwhile, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee earlier this week. He was slated to be out two to four weeks.

Sauter was signed as the Colts third quarterback. He had been with the team earlier in the year before being waived in order to make room on the active roster due to injuries at other positions.','12/5/2003','6:00:00 AM','Friday',764 6334,6,14,'Thomas Practicing, But Forsey Still In The Picture...','According to DailySouthtown.com staff writer Gene Chamberlain, offensive coordinator John Shoop said just because running back Anthony Thomas returns to his starting spot this week doesnt mean Brock Forsey will not see the football.

Shoop said the plan is for Thomas to share some of the running load with Forsey because Thomas is still not 100 percent after coming back from viral pneumonia. Thomas had his best career game against the Packers in September with 110 yards.

Forsey had 134 yards rushing last week and was impressive enough that Green Bay writers and broadcasters wanted him on their conference call for an interview this week.

"We have a plan to keep Brock Forsey involved and Rabih [Abdullah] certainly has his role, which hes been doing quite well at in terms of (pass) blocking," Shoop said.
