the season at Houston.
Unofficially, though, Vanderjagt believes hes already had his miss.
That came Oct. 6 at Tampa Bay when he pushed a 40-yarder wide right in overtime. A penalty gave Vanderjagt a second chance, which he banked off the right goal post from 29 yards for a 38-35 win.
He hasnt been close to missing since.
Anderson, who hit 40 in a row from 1997-98 with Minnesota, is the only player in league history with more consecutive field goals, and Vanderjagt doesnt even try to change the discussion.
"Id like to get it to 50," he said. "Thats a nice round number. If I get to 41, that would be pretty cool, too. But 32 is not a nice round number, so well have to keep going from here."
Vanderjagt is clearly driven by that miss in Tampa.
"I want to make it unattainable. Ive already missed mine," he said, referring to the Buccaneers game. "Five years from now, itll be 50 and no one will ever remember what happened. ..."

In a column published Thursday, SportsLine.com insider Pete Prisco offered the following advice to any team trying to defend Peyton Manning: "Hope like heck he doesnt have the ball at the end of the half."
Among his many impressive stats this year, one that stands out is his success in the last two minutes of the first half. Manning is 50 of 69 for 618 yards and a 72.5 completion percentage in those two minutes. He has also thrown six touchdowns and two interceptions in that span. ...
Ill also remind you that Manning, who has a 1-2 record against Tennessee. has completed 77-of-113 passes for 797 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions in those three games. In his only game at the Coliseum (Dec. 9, 2002), he completed 26-of-42 passes for 297 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. The Colts lost that game 27-17.
Marvin Harrison is averaging around seven catches a game in three previous meetings with the Titans. Harrison has caught 23 passes for 234 yards (10.2 avg.) and two touchdowns against Tennessee.
