But many observers believe that after three seasons as a Charger, Brees might be on the way out after going 1-9 this season.
Not surprisingly, Brees disagrees.
"I dont think next year is going to be anything like this, to be honest with you," said Brees, whos thrown 10 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. "I think that for me personally, I had higher expectations for this year than anybody on the team.
"I talked to guys like [LaDainian Tomlinson], going from his first year to starting his second year, and he said it was like night and day. I assumed it was going to be the same way for me, that this season was going to be night and day, and that Id come out and take it to a new level."
