For Crumpler, the talented and proud tight end who is headed for his first Pro Bowl in February, it seemed to take a greater toll than most, however.
"I let it affect some things I couldnt control," said Crumpler, declining to identify them. "There were times where I was just in a lull during periods of games just because I was frustrated."
So perhaps last weeks Pro Bowl selection impacted him more than most.
"It means a lot," he explained. "It takes a lot just to get to this point."
It is validation for the Falcons, who took heat for taking a tight end with their second-round pick of the 2000 draft. With Michael Vick being chosen for the Pro Bowl last season, the Falcons 2000 draft class has become just the Falcons second since 1969 to send two players to the NFLs all-star game.
