Taking it a step further, his decision-making could be the difference between Carter being the teams starter for the near future and the club considering the acquisition of veteran help at the position next season.
With several free-agent quarterbacks expected to be available this offseason, including Mark Brunell, the Cowboys at least will consider adding a veteran presence unless Carter tempers his attempts at making big plays -- usually when it is ill-advised. Parcells has insisted that he does not want to change Carters style of play, namely his athleticism, but that he wants to make sure Carter cuts down on mistakes.
