How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

6527,4,17,'Bledsoe Ready To Close Out "Surreal" Season...','In an article published Friday, Buffalo News sports reporter Bucky Gleason advised readers that Drew Bledsoe insists his arm is fine and his confidence is intact. Yes, hes had a horrible season. Yes, his ineffectiveness has been a major reason why the Buffalo Bills stumbled out of the playoffs.

Hes lost sleep, sometimes staying up until 5 a.m. while sifting through the rubble known as the Bills offense.

How bad is it?

Bledsoe is on pace to throw for less than 3,000 yards, a first for him since he started 12 games his rookie year in New England. He threw for 2,500 yards in the first eight games alone last season. Hes been sacked 46 times this year, more than any other quarterback, and 100 times the past two years. Hes thrown 11 interceptions and lost nine fumbles, accounting for two-thirds of the Bills turnover total this year.

As Gleason put it: "At times, it has been a fiasco, so bad it has bordered on absurd."

"Its been absolutely brutal," Bledsoe said. "Its been absolutely surreal for me."

Bledsoe acknowledged that the toughest part about this season has been staying positive in the face of the Bills failures in general and his in particular. For much of the season, it has been an acting job. He has been miserable, especially when the Bills lost four straight en route to defeats in six of their last eight games.

"The hardest part of playing quarterback in this league is managing your emotions and managing your psyche when things arent going well," Bledsoe said. "Its being able to come to practice and come to meetings with a positive attitude.

"The one thing I can never do is let my teammates see that Im down when I step into the huddle because Ill drag them down with me. ... Ive been able to do that."

The Bills need to determine whether they want to pay him $6 million in base salary next season and whether they want to pick up the final three years on his contract. If they decide hes not worth the money, he can become a free agent.
