But Wannstedt defended his words Thursday and explained why he made his prediction.
"I knew from a coaching standpoint that we were committed to it," the coach said. "And if we were going to win any games the second half of the season, we were going to have to run the football better than we did the first half. We did that.
"Did we lead the league in rushing the second half? I dont think so. I dont even know what the numbers are. But I wanted our players to know, No. 1, that I believe in them and No. 2, to let them know that were committed to this thing and we have to do it and improve if were going to be a good team."
One thing Wannstedt wishes he hadnt done -- make the prediction before the Tennessee game.

Rob Konrad made it through a full week of practice and is expected to play despite suffering a concussion two weeks ago against Philadelphia.
"I think its a situation where if hes fine and hes cleared, which he has been, and he wants to be part of this, then hes going to play," Wannstedt said. "Thats the decision Rob apparently has made."

Wayne Huizenga is believed to have spoken with at least one top NFL executive to gauge whether he should make the head coaching and general manager positions separate in his organization. Wannstedt enjoys authority over personnel decisions like predecessors Jimmy Johnson and Don Shula.
"I think thats natural," said one general manager familiar with the Dolphins situation who spoke Monday with the Sun-Sentinel on condition of anonymity. "Sometimes when you have that, its like switching positions when you go from an offense-minded coach to a defense-minded coach. It happens a lot in the league, so its not a shock.
